ABC’s ‘Conviction’ episode 11 preview: The Black Orchid Killer
Tonight, “Conviction” returned to ABC with new episodes, albeit in a rather different way than we’ve seen before. The series starring Hayley Atwell moved into a new timeslot Sunday nights, where it will remain for the remainder of the season — and likely the series, since we unfortunately do not see the show coming back. In putting the show on against award-shows and NFL football, this is the network throwing its hands up in the air in regards to the ratings.
If there is a little bit of good news out there, it is this: There are still some additional episodes coming to the network, so there will be, at the very least, further opportunities to continue the story. Next week’s “Black Orchid” is going to serve as one opportunity, as the opportunity will present itself to learn some further news regarding a notorious case and a dangerous killer. The twist here is that the person who seems on the surface behind the crimes is actually sitting behind bars. Was he innocent the entire time? Think of this as something that the unit is going to have to figure out. The synopsis below offers up a little more insight, including that this could be a particularly big episode for Tess:
“While Hayes and Wallace struggle to balance their professional and personal lives, they are summoned to a crime scene that fits the M.O. of the infamous “Black Orchid Killer.” Is the latest murder the work of a copycat? Or is the man now in prison for the earlier crimes actually innocent? As the investigation accelerates, the CIU team, spearheaded by unlikely serial-killer expert Tess, closes in on a suspect who may have committed all the murders – but will it be too late?”
Even if the show does not make it beyond its upcoming 13th episode, you do want to see it go out with a bang and with the most complicated cases imaginable — this is what makes this particular hour interesting, since there is such a clear element of danger here since you’re dealing with far more than one life at stake.
