‘The X Factor’ UK: Should Sharon Osbourne, Louis Walsh, and Nicole Scherzinger return?

X Factor -There are a number of faults that you can probably still find with “The X Factor,” from the still-predictable themes to the refusal to present contestants as they are – which inevitably leads to viewers searching contestants online and figuring out that the show isn’t being entirely truthful.

By and large, the problem with the latest season was not the judges, mostly because Simon Cowell and the producers realize that this is an entertainment show first and foremost. Maybe Louis Walsh is not a particularly relevant name in 2016, but in pre-taped environments he’s hilarious. Sure, he issues the same comments year after year in the live shows (“you’re a ready-made pop star,” “you deserve a record deal”), but if you could get someone to install some new material in him then odds are he would generate and even bigger following.

As for everyone else, we do think it’s a rather great panel. Could Sharon Osbourne be a little more involved? Absolutely, but some of it is out of her control so long as she is going to continue doing this show and “The Talk” at the same time (does she even have time to sleep?). We almost wish that she would take a hiatus from the CBS shows for the couple of months the live shows are on, just so that she could be a little more involved. She’s great entertainment! We do think that she wants to come back, but we can’t say the same thing about the entirety of the panel.

As for Nicole Scherzinger, we’ll give her credit for really growing on us given that she was a complete mess during the first season of the American version of the show. She’s funny, she brings a certain flair to the show, and above all else there is a genuine feeling that she cares about her contestants. She remains friends with her first winner in James Arthur, and we have a feeling that she will also continue to have a great relationship with Matt Terry, as well. The biggest thing you can ask of your mentor is to be supportive, and to treat your time on the show like it is something more than fleeting and Nicole is incredible at doing just that.

Of course, Simon Cowell isn’t going anywhere. He created the thing! He realizes that the U.S. version had some issues, so now he’s moving forward with a show that’s a giant hit.
