‘The X Factor’ UK final: Adam Lambert, Louisa Johnson, Nicole Scherzinger perform in duets
This weekend’s “X Factor” has provided you with a little bit of everything, but for the sake of this article, we’re speaking almost entirely about the duets! Producers did their best to keep these under wraps going into the show, but there was some information out there that leaked. Ultimately, we don’t personally think that it matters so much who performed with who as it did how powerful the performances were.
As we did with the first part of the night, we’ve got our take on all of these performances below!
5 After Midnight with Louisa Johnson / Clean Bandit, “Tears” – We do think that this was a very good performance, but we do think that the boys are somewhat at a disadvantage given that they performed with someone in Johnson who, beyond the show, is probably not as well-known as some of the other duet partners on the night. Vocally, it was at least solid and everyone seemed like they had a good time.
Matt Terry with Nicole Scherzinger, “Purple Rain” – At first, seeing Matt with his own mentor made us wonder whether or not the show couldn’t land someone else; then, it really didn’t matter. The harmonies between the two were incredible, this was a worthy Prince tribute, and while we often think of Nicole comedically because of her catch-phrases, she is a really strong singer when given chances like this to shine.
Saara Aalto with Adam Lambert, “Purple Rain” – There are times where we can really distinguish our favorite performance from the field, but both this and Matt’s performance were Nicole were wonderful in different ways. Saara showed her musical ability in starting off here on the piano, and there was really no one better for her to perform with than Adam. Their performing styles are relatively similar, and we do think that they entered each competition with a similar frame of mind. Incredible vocals!
