‘The X Factor’ UK: Simon Cowell wants Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne, and Nicole Scherzinger back
Meet the new panel, same as the old panel? It may sound crazy given the recent “X Factor” track record of rotating so many people out on an almost-weekly basis, but at the same time, that’s precisely what the show is plotting to do now moving forward.
According to the folks over at The Sun, there are negotiations under way already for Simon Cowell to bring back Nicole Scherzinger, Louis Walsh, and Sharon Osbourne for another season of the show next year, and this is an exciting proposition for anyone who feels like we do about the quality of the show ramping up with this particular panel. They are a big part of the show’s lighthearted vibe this season, and definitely have better chemistry than recent panels have.
If there is a problem facing these judges, it is one tied to credibility. Keeping a performer like Honey G, for example, makes it look as though the show is desperate for entertainment more so than they are anything else. The series needs to do a better job of selling themselves as a talent-first program as opposed to one that is more interested in the tabloids and the headlines. While we would say that the show is certainly not doing anything to encourage this sort of chatter, at the same time, we hardly perceive that they are doing anything to quiet it down, either. This is not necessarily something that we want to see the show developing a habit out of, but they’re starting to.
Also, they’re suffering somewhat from a problem out of their control by and large: Over-saturation. While Cowell is to blame for both this show and “Britain’s Got Talent,” they can coexist. Adding on there the British version “The Voice” turns all of this into a little more of a scrum.
