‘Madam Secretary’ delayed by NFL football; new start time
If you watch CBS programming regular during the fall, odds are that you’re already more than a little bit familiar with this: Delays because of football. It happens often, and it’s not going away anytime soon given that even with declining year-to-year ratings, the NFL still owns almost everything else that is out there.
As for how this impacts many of your other favorite shows, the simplest way we can put it is like this: Slight delays are coming. In a post on Twitter, the official “Madam Secretary” account confirmed that tonight’s episode is going to start a little bit later than usual. Specifically, we’re looking at a time around 9:46 p.m. Eastern. At least that means that we’re not going to be more than an hour behind its typical start time, which is better than we’ve seen. There have been some nights when NFL football runs so late that CBS opts to pull the 10:00 p.m. show altogether, which would make “Madam Secretary” the last on the night. That isn’t happening here.
The good news for those of you who really hate these NFL delays is that there is probably not going to be all too many of them happening now as we move forward into the future. Assuming that “Madam Secretary” is off the air for the holiday season, that probably means that there are probably only a few more weeks of this that you’ll have before the show goes on hiatus, and when it returns, at the very least the regular season will be over.
Before that happens, one thing that we can set up about the future of the show this season is that we are going to be getting the results of the election sooner rather than later. Therefore, don’t think that the show is going to draw that out too much longer.
