‘Scorpion’ season 3, episode 9 preview: Lea Thompson arrives as Paige’s mother

The title for the next new episode of “Scorpion” on CBS is going to be “Mother Lode,” and there’s a pretty simple reason as to why that is: We’re going to have a chance to get a really notable appearance from Paige’s mother! For the first time, we’ll start to get a further sense as to her past with this character, and it’s pretty clear that the two have been through some pretty tough, challenging times.

What makes this particular episode all the more exciting, at least to us, is that we’re going to have a chance in here to see an appearance from none other than Lea Thompson! The former “Back to the Future” star and current “Switched at Birth” cast member has the role, and that has to be a treat to some of the other people in the cast to work with her.

Synopsis – “Paige’s estranged mother calls on Team Scorpion when she accidentally uncovers a forgotten nuclear reactor on the verge of exploding.”

CBS isn’t exactly being liberal when it comes to the information that they’re sharing about this episode in advance, but at the same time, how much do they really need to say? Not all that much, we’d argue, given that we do think that they have a premise here that is pretty easy to explain, and only adding to it would muddy things up a little bit.

One of the more interesting through-lines that we are getting here, though, is the presence of family both this week and what is coming up next. After all, tonight we are heading overseas to Ireland so that Walter and Sylvester can commemorate the year since Megan’s passing with her and Walter’s family. We imagine that the two stories will be very different, but that family presence is there either way.
