NBC’s ‘The Voice’ song spoilers: What Ali Caldwell, Courtney Harrell, Sa’Rayah, and more are singing
Tonight, the top 20 contestants on “The Voice” are all congregating, and are doing so with a singular mission in mind: Trying to impress America enough that they get an opportunity to move forward into the top 12. This will be the most chaotic shoice of the entire season, mostly because you’ve got live results, real-time voting, and so much more happening in an effort to speed things along and compensate for there not being a results show on tomorrow because of the election.
Below, what we’ve got for you are the song spoilers for the entire top 20, coupled with our take on all of them. Given that there is no results show tomorrow, iTunes sales aren’t really going to play as much of a role.
Team Adam Levine
Billy Gilman, “Crying”
Brendan Fletcher, “To Love Somebody”
Josh Gallagher, “Colder Weather”
Riley Elmore, “Luck Be a Lady”
Simone Gundy, “Diamonds”
Of this group, Simone and Josh easily have the most current choices. Riley is probably the person that’d benefit the most from there being an iTunes vote tonight, given that Frank Sinatra is so timeless (no, not the other NBC show) that he’d clean up on a lot of votes.
Team Alicia Keys
Christian Cuevas, “Yesterday”
Josh Halverson, “Cupid”
Kylie Rothfield, “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction”
Sa’Rayah, “I’d Rather Go Blind”
We McDonald, “Home” (from The Wiz)
This is probably our least-favorite list of songs given that they are all fairly dated, with NBC’s recent musical production being the thing that save We somewhat. We can see Kylie and Josh probably doing the most with their songs, and We is a lock to move on.
Team Blake Shelton
Austin Allsup, “I Ain’t Living Long Like This”
Courtney Harrell, “It Must Have Been Love”
Dana Harper, “Maneater”
Jason Warrior, “One Dance”
Sundance Head, “Blue Ain’t Your Color”
Lots of really good stuff in this list. Courtney’s liking slowing down the Roxanne hit similar to what Drew did back on the first season of “The X Factor” in America; meanwhile, Jason’s got an opportunity to deliver something super-entertaining with the Drake cover.
Team Miley Cyrus
Aaron Gibson, “Round Here”
Ali Caldwell, “Times Have Changed”
Belle Jewel, “Runaway”
Darby Walker, “Those Were the Days”
Sophia Urista, “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy”
Seriously with the Sophia choice? Anyhow, this whole list is really risky given that most of these songs aren’t too well-known by mainstream viewers in 2016, though Aaron’s at least will appeal to Counting Crows fans. There’s a chance that someone has a moment here, but there’s also a fear that nobody knows these songs to the extent that it puts extra pressure on the singers to deliver.
