‘The Blacklist’ season 4 theory: Could Aram’s girlfriend be a mole?
We’re now getting into the thick of “The Blacklist” season 4, and with that, we’re nearing the height of an Alexander Kirk storyline likely nearing a showdown. He’s proven himself to be selfish and rather dangerous, but at the same time his connection to Liz Keen has made it rather difficult for her to fully separate herself from him.
The biggest difficulty that Red and the FBI Task Force have faced with Kirk so far is that he always seems to be one step ahead, and knows quite a bit about the plans that are in place. Therefore, we of course have to wonder one question above all others: Is a mole on the loose? Signs, and comments from the show’s own producers, seem to be pointing towards the answer there being “yes.”
So who could it be? There are only a limited list of suspects, whether it be a high-powered member of government, a character we already know turning to the dark side, or a character we’ve only started to get to know recently with access to a wide array of information. This is where we come to Elise, Aram’s new girlfriend played by Annie Heise. To date, she’s only appeared in a handful of episodes, but clearly she’s familiar enough about Aram’s job to boldly call up Samar and ask for advice on the perfect date.
As of right now, Elise has to be at the top of our suspect list for potential moles, and there are a number of different reasons for it.
1. We don’t know much about her – Given that Tom Keen was able to hoodwink Liz for so long, it’s possible that she could be doing the same thing here. It’s easier to have someone turn to the dark side when we’re not emotionally invested.
2. She’s got access – We don’t think Aram is crazy enough to sit down with her and share a ton of classified information; however, he may have his guard down enough that she is able to either follow him at times or overhear information that he is passing along.
3. It’s the perfect bait-and-switch – To date, we’re predisposed to root against Elise mostly because we root for Amar and Samar to be together. Therefore, having her be a mole is not the first thing that comes to mind when we see her; instead, she’s the person stuck in the middle of a potential romantic subplot that many people want to see.
