‘The Leftovers’ season 3: Damon Lindelof has a message on departure day
If you recall on HBO’s “The Leftovers,” October 14 was the date in which the departure first happened, and everything changed as the characters started to realize that their lives would never be the same.
So in honor of this day, HBO is giving us a special treat: A further reminder of how much we love co-creator Damon Lindelof. In a new video on the show’s Facebook page, he reminds us tragically that he is not on Twitter anymore (we miss you, Damon!) before going on to answer a couple of fan “questions” — if these are real, these fans are all sorts of wonderful.
1. First, Damon claims that he’s ready to answer all questions before saying he cannot answer the first one, which basically asked straight-up for all of the answers regarding the departure and what it means. (Don’t hold your breath for any answer to that ever; we’ve routinely heard Damon and others say that learning this is not the point of the show.)
2. From here, we have a chance to hear him actually sing the entire season 1 theme song as a cat after it was requested by a fan. We may be in the minority on this (not sure), but we actually consider ourselves to be one of the people who preferred the more upbeat theme song to season 2 than the one we had the season before. There’s no word just yet as to which one we’re getting for season 3 — we could still get something totally new.
Oh, and if you’re curious, you can watch the pilot episode for “The Leftovers” for free over on HBO’s official site. The new season will begin in 2017.
