‘Victoria’ episode 3 preview: Further problems for Jenna Coleman, cast
Tonight, the second episode of “Victoria” came on the air for ITV, and we’re starting to get a better sense as to Queen Victoria’s early trials and tribulations. She is still finding her voice, and also figuring out how she wants to present herself in front of the country. One part of that is of course her trying to figure out whether or not she wants to marry, and if she does, who she wants to be her future husband.
After a Monday diversion the third episode of the series will return to Sunday at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and the official synopsis for it can be seen below:
“A Chartist uprising in Newport highlights the instability of the monarchy as the drama series about the early reign of Queen Victoria continues. Victoria’s uncle Leopold urges his niece to secure the throne by marrying her cousin Albert. The headstrong young monarch is not prepared to oblige, however, since the only man in whom she has any interest is the prime minister. She banishes her nemesis Conroy from court, which ironically brings her closer to her mother. Later, she clashes with Melbourne over the death sentences meted out to the Chartist leaders, before being outraged when she hears that Albert is arriving at Conroy’s behest.”
We do think the consensus from most viewers on the series so far has been positive, but at the same time it is still early and we don’t quite think that the full legacy is going to be written here until we get around to the fourth or fifth episode. Still, we’ll be keeping track to gauge reactions every step of the way.
