‘Ballers’ season 2, episode 7 video: Is Joe turning on Spencer?

The second season of “Ballers” is going to be airing arguably its most important episode of the season on Sunday night, and there is one primary reason why it earns this particular designation: The drama that is going to play out between Joe and Spencer.

Through most of the series to this point, they’ve been almost yin-and-yang. One of them has been there to help the other one through their various weaknesses. They’re great as a team, but individually they’re flawed. For Spencer, he has the pro connections and the hustle to get things done, but he doesn’t necessarily have the business acumen. As a matter of fact, he and Andre Allen have a strained relationship that seems to come out of a venture that lost Spencer a hefty chunk of change.

Meanwhile, Joe is a numbers guy without the connections, but part of the reason this collaboration works is because he thought Spencer was on the level with him about everything. Two things could change that on Sunday night.

1. Precisely how much Spencer lost over the course of his collaboration with Andre.

2. The nature of his recent pill addiction, which has gotten to the point now where he is seeing another doctor under an obviously-false name.

At the moment, things are starting to spiral for Dwayne Johnson’s character, given that he has a problem, his girlfriend is moving, and his past is coming back to haunt him. It’s certainly rather hard to believe things are going to be getting better anytime soon until he starts to stare these problems in the face.
