‘Suits’ season 6, episode 7 review: Mike Ross’ moral dilemma; Sean Cahill’s play
On Wednesday night’s new episode of “Suits,” we continued to see Mike Ross in a position that he should be rather familiar with at this point: Conflicted. He saw a path to a brighter future, or at least one that would not involve prison, at one end of the tunnel. However, at the same time he realized precisely what it would take for him to get there: Selling out Kevin Miller’s wife, and forcing her into prison.
Through most of the episode, Mike struggled to figure out what to do, and eventually his methods of persuasion blew up to the point where Kevin didn’t want to even room with him anymore. Also, Frank Gallo is breathing further down his neck, and Sean Cahill’s perseverance in stopping William Sutter is starting to put Harvey in a pickle. What made all of this so effective is that Harvey and Cahill had such an odd friendship-of-sorts, so Harvey viewed the deal being potentially taken as a betrayal. Sean may have been a little too good at his job, and suddenly Mike may not be an asset anymore.
So is there any hope at all for him to get out of prison? That’s what we’re waiting to find out.
The Leonard Bailey case continues – This side story is fantastic. It’s giving Rachel a chance to do something that tests her ability as a prospective attorney, and it’s also giving her plenty of moral struggles of her own. For example, she’s having to come to terms with various questions as to whether or not he is truly guilty due to the victim’s family coming after her.
There was one key that was out there to blowing up Leonard’s case: A witness, and one that was revealed to have died three years ago.
Louis Litt has a new love (sort of) – Following his big gesture, he and Tara are closer to being an item, but there’s a huge problem: She already has a relationship with someone in Los Angeles. However, it’s an open one. Is he really going to be okay being potentially in second place? We have no idea, but this will almost surely be interesting!
While we understand the complaints about Mike and Kevin’s story dragging out a bit, we’re not going to deny that there is still a lot of power here. Also, Louis and Tara’s storyline is completely unique and well … Louis. This wasn’t an earth-shattering episode, but it certainly did enough to satisfy. Grade: B+.
