‘Ballers’ season 2, episode 6 preview: Two teases for ‘Saturdayz’
The second season of “Ballers” continues to heat up hotter than the Miami sun, and on Sunday night’s new episode (entitled “Saturdayz”), the challenge may be rather simple: Make a good enough half-hour that we forget about your show doing the annoying thing where you stick a Z at the end of a word and pretend that it’s cool.
Sure, there are going to be many funny storylines and individual moments that are worthy of anticipation during this episode, but for the sake of this article we want to point out two specific things to keep your eyes peeled for while watching.
1. The continued arc of Travis – He’s a young, arrogant guy who believes that his talent will forever supersede whatever sort of professionalism he needs to show. We’re not going to name names, but for at least 80% of the audience we feel like there’s a name that comes to mind when you see the guy. The difference with Travis is that in this fictionalized world, there is still hope. Spencer Strasmore may think he can still turn him around, yet at the same exact time there are reasons this could prove problematic. Travis skipping the combine is one of them.
2. Charles handles his new responsibility – We feel for Charles, whose entire journey so far this season has felt akin to him floating around on a sailboat not knowing where the wind would take him. So far, he’s transitioned from being a former football player to a car salesman to a football player and now an employee of the front office. It’s a great new responsibility. The downside is having to be the bad guy who tells people they’re cut. Can he handle that pressure?
