‘Masters of Sex’ season 4 spoilers: First look at premiere episode!

The fourth season of “Masters of Sex” is going to be premiering on Showtime later this year, and there are a few different things that we know are coming up. For one, there’s going to be a time jump, and with that does come an opportunity to see the dynamic change between Bill and Virginia. Given that we know where history takes the two of them, we have to figure that there are going to be some moves taken to bring them closer together.

Could we see that in the premiere episode “Freefall” airing on September 11? It’s certainly that you will in time. For this episode, though, the synopsis below almost makes it clear that before that, Michael Sheen and Libby Caplan’s characters have to spend some time realizing just how terrible their lives would be if they were not around for each other:

“In the wake of their fallout, Masters and Johnson search for purpose in a world without one another and look to work as their personal lives crash down around them. Libby finds herself alone for the first time since her marriage and discovers some unexpected allies.”

Following this, we’ll see precisely where things go, but we do think that the “they’ve found their groove” slogan on the promo art above means more than just the style of the period. These characters are going to continue to find success, and in the process they will also start to find a little bit more of what they are missing.
