‘Suits’ season 6, episode 4 review: Did Harvey convince Mike to take the deal?
While Harvey Specter on “Suits” is not always a man of black and white, he often is when it comes to one thing and one thing only: Mike Ross. Through much of Wednesday night’s new episode, we saw Harvey go to greater lengths than we’ve ever seen in order to get Mike to take a deal regarding his cellmate Kevin. Briefly, the show became prison break!
After Mike was drugged (Harvey’s doing), he got him out to spend a little bit of time with Rachel as a means to convince him to take the deal. It was a different strategy than what Sean Cahill had in mind: Making it clear through a connection with the victims that he should take that deal. Mike had at first lied to Rachel about why he was there, but by the end of their time in bed, he came clean … which is good because Sean was ready to break down the door.
In the end, Mike took the deal … which in turn means that he will have to become an informant. There’s a victory in here for Mike, but at the same time a little heartbreak given what he will have to do in the process.
Louis finds love … or at least wants to – The moment that he met Tara (Carly Pope, read our interview with her here), he saw something in her. She understood him, and the moment he realized that she was exquisite and loved opera, she was more than just an architect for him. While Jessica made it clear that he couldn’t hire her to fix his issues with the firm, and the traders, he came up with another reason to hire her: Fixing up his summer home in the Hamptons, even though she doesn’t do residential work. (Can we dream about a “Suits” – “Royal Pains” crossover where Louis hangs out with Hank at a bar?)
Jessica forges relationships – It may not have been the flashiest part of the episode, but Jessica is slowly continuing to build bridges and add new clients.
In the end, this episode (entitled “Turn”) proved to be a fascinating character study and a turning point for Mike behind bars. He now has a mission, but no guarantee of success. It was extremely well-written, and the Louis scenes helped to break up the drama. Episode Grade: A-.
