‘Preacher’ finale spoilers: Jesse waits for the call
The past nine episodes of “Preacher” can be described mostly in one word: Crazy. We’ve learned about a complicated Man of God with a complicated past, and a certain something known as Genesis stuck within him. We’ve also had a chance to see how other interesting characters function within this world: Cassidy, Tulip, and a few beings from somewhere else. We’ve seen showdowns, violence, and Jesse realizing that his power is far more significant, and a little less holy, than he first imagined it would be.
Let’s start by talking about the title for the next new episode: “Call and Response.” We love that, mostly because of the clear religious implications that are present with this show and the idea of many famous hymns. It also seems appropriate that Jesse has been eagerly awaiting information, and this may be his chance to get it.
Now, what could this story mean for the remainder of Annville? We imagine more so than anything else, they are hoping for peace, stability, the same sort of thing that almost any town out there wants and only a few get it.
There was not much released in terms of information on other characters in the promotional material released by AMC in advance of this episode; what we can say is that the episode will run for an hour and twenty minutes (set your DVRs accordingly), and that this is hopefully going to set up in a nice way the events of the second season. That was officially ordered earlier this summer in response to ratings and the overall response from viewers.
