‘A Capitol 4th’ video: Reigning ‘The Voice’ champion Alisan Porter performs National Anthem
There were many specials that aired across all across television, but on PBS’ annual broadcast for “A Capitol 4th,” they tend to celebrate both America and artists from popular singing shows more than almost anywhere else.
This year, there were many notable alumni taking part, and that included the reigning champion of “The Voice” in Alisan Porter. If you check out the video below, you can hear Porter’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” from someone in attendance during the show. She definitely hits all of the notes, and it’s every bit as stirring as you would expect for it to be. Porter also performed another trademark patriotic anthem during the event in “America the Beautiful,” and she joined Cassadee Pope as former winners of the NBC show performing during the event. From what we’ve been able to see, all reviews are positive.
This gig is one of the biggest TV performances that Porter has had since winning this past season for Team Christina Aguilera, and we hope that it marks only the beginning for many more over the coming months. We’re sure that “The Voice” will invite her back for something later this year, and our hope for her is largely the same as it is for many other people who appear on the show: She finds a way to break through, and actually turns her career into something huge using the platform. Many other champions of “The Voice” haven’t really been given that much when it comes to a platform.
