‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 gets two-episode premiere, aftershow, and more

USA today sent a very clear message into the heavens: They really like “Mr. Robot,” and have every intention in the world to make this as big of an event for them as possible.

Let’s start with what we feel is the biggest overall news, and that is the network expanding the season 2 order from ten episodes to twelve. We’re not sure if this is something that they wanted or something creator Sam Esmail was interested in doing, but either way, it’s happening. The premiere on July 13 is also now going to be a two-episode event, and there will be limited commercial interruptions during them. They will start at 10:00 p.m. Eastern after “Suits,” and run until 11:30.

Just in case all of this somehow was not enough for you, we also present you with this: “Hacking Robot.” This is an aftershow that will run following the premiere and give you more intel on the show behind the scenes. It’s no surprise that this show has this, and we really think that it is probably more deserving of one than many others out there just from the standpoint of there being so much material to work through, given how dense this series can sometimes be.

Esmail has already said that he intends to direct every single episode this season, which is an even more impressive feat given the episode count. We’re starting to think that he may be an actual robot for taking on this level of commitment to the cause.
