‘Silicon Valley’ season 3, episode 10 (finale) preview: ‘The Uptick’

Tonight, “Silicon Valley” delivered an episode that was critical to the future of Pied Piper as a company, as we saw the group fail to increase its active user base to the extent that Jared took to desperate measures to ensure Richard didn’t give up, outsourcing people overseas to fudge the numbers. It is one of the most devious things we’ve seen the company do on the show, but how long will it take for the public to find out, and even more importantly, what will Richard do when he finds out what Jared has done? Will this be the end of Jared at the company?

The title for next week’s finale is “The Uptick,” and based on the synopsis below, it does appear as though there are a few more problems that are going to surface. As for whether or not they involve Jared’s move, that remains to be seen:

“With Pied Piper’s future in question, Erlich’s publicity success leaves Richard in a moral quandary, just as Dinesh’s video-chat app gathers speed. While Laurie (Suzanne Cryer) prepares to jump ship, Gavin’s comeback at Hooli is threatened by his displays of grandeur.”

Would it be slightly ironic if Dinesh ends up getting so much success with his video-chat that it actually ends up saving Pied Piper in some way? Sure, since he’s been a guy nobody has ever taken that seriously and it’d be great to see him have a rise to power of sorts. As long as it keeps Kumail Nanjiani on the show, we’re thrilled. The one thing we’re not so thrilled about, meanwhile, is that this is the last episode until 2017. Let’s hope the show goes out with a bang after a pretty slow start.
