‘Silicon Valley’ season 3, episode 9 preview: Becoming too good for your own good
Through the vast majority of what we’ve seen when it comes to “Silicon Valley,” there is one thing that we have seen to be true time and time again: People love the platform! However, there is one exception, and it is a pretty notable one: Monica. Earlier this season, she made it more than a little bit clear that there were things that she found problematic about the interface, and it was almost Chekhov’s warning at the time that this was going to come back down the road.
Moving into Sunday night’s new episode, this will come home to roost when the team realizes that they are starting to tank over a lack of connection to the consumer base. Their product is amazing, but they cannot communicate it. They’ve focused so much on the tech that effectively, they’re “too good for they’re own good.” That is at least the terminology that was used in the initial promo that aired for the episode.
The synopsis below, meanwhile, hints at another interesting development that may have come out of this past episode:
“Upon discovering surprising stats, Richard attempts to bridge the gap between Pied Piper and its users, leading Jared to take drastic measures to hold everything together. Gavin learns secrets about the competition and decides to bring in a new face to reclaim his former glory.”
Could this “new face” be Jack Barker? Most signs point to yes, given that he at least knows a great deal about Richard, and would likely want revenge on both him and also Laurie based on the way in which his personal tenure ended. He’s also probably not thrilled with the knowledge that Richard was right about the platform being the real high earner here.
We’ll be back tomorrow with a full review for this episode. For now, share in the comments what you want to see.
