‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3, episode 5 preview: Ethan’s latest struggle for survival

Where do we go from her on Showtime’s “Penny Dreadful”? This is a good question, but like every week before, the producers find a way. Therefore, you gotta assume that they will once again figure it out moving into the next new episode.

Let’s go ahead and start with sharing the synopsis below, mostly because it does the typical job of not really saying much of anything about the story other than one little tease:

“Hecate (Sarah Greene) and Ethan struggle to survive in the harsh desert wasteland.”

Is this “Penny Dreadful” meets something hosted by Bear Grylls? Not exactly. This feels much more like a classic journey through the Old West. If you’ve enjoyed some old-school Westerns over the years, here’s to hoping that you also love the “Penny Dreadful” take on it. We’re going to learn more about Ethan’s plots, what he is fighting for, and of course some family drama to boot.

There are also a few other worthy scenes in here, as well, for those of you who appreciate a little bit more of a panoramic view. Regardless, we do appreciate some of the ways in which this show is going about its storytelling this season, isolating a few characters here and there for spotlights while adding some connective tissue here and there. We are hoping for some big reunion soon, but understand that this is not something you can rush given how far apart some of these people are at the moment.
