‘Bones’ season 12 pushed to midseason by Fox; ‘Prison Break’ delayed; ‘Pitch’ bumped up

Ever since the release of the Fox fall schedule a little earlier this week, we were curious as to the decision-making behind shelving baseball drama “Pitch” until the spring. Given that this is a show featuring a complete MLB license, why wouldn’t you use the chase to the World Series as a promotional effort?

Apparently, someone at the network was either listening, or thought of the idea themselves based on the scheduling shake-up that was just announced by the network. Now, it appears as though “Pitch” is being moved to Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, taking the pace of “Bones.” The David Boreanaz – Emily Deschanel series will not air its twelfth and final season on Thursday nights, taking the place of the much-anticipated “Prison Break” revival.

“Pitch,” if you have not heard, tells the story of a woman who becomes the first person of her gender to pitch for an MLB franchise. She has spent her entire life preparing for this moment, and also perfecting a screwball pitch that will allow her to compete with people who are physically stronger. It’s a unique concept, though we’re still not sure how it will translate to being anything other than a two-hour movie.

The delay of “Prison Break” until the spring (where it will now air on Tuesdays) may be the biggest surprise of all. Why make this transition? It’s an interesting question, given that there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm out there about the show, and this part of the schedule change is probably not getting as much press as it should.
