‘Quantico’ episode 20 reaction: Show boss on big Drew reveal
Has one of the biggest mysteries at the heart of ABC’s “Quantico” been officially unlocked? We wouldn’t go that far just yet, but it does certainly appear now that Drew is far more involved in the terrorist plot than we realized going into this past episode. At the very least, we know now that he is one of the people behind the oh-so-mysterious Voice ordering Alex, Shelby, and others to do his bidding.
As for how the show came around to this big reveal, executive producer Josh Safran said the following to Entertainment Weekly:
“We always knew it would be people involved in the Quantico side of the world, and we loved the idea that Drew, Iris, and Will were all in the class that vetted our class, and once we knew that, we knew that it was someone before Alex had gotten there that would be involved. And from that point forward, we started realizing that Drew had the most to lose and the most animosity toward the FBI — although, as you can see, we made Will, Iris, and Drew all have issues. Iris didn’t get her security clearance, Will went down a road with Caleb that ended up getting him out of the FBI, and then you have Drew, who’s lost so much in his life. He’s like, “I’ll do good where my good actually comes to something,” and then he was thrown out. It came together more and more as we moved forward.”
For those wondering, there are a few other Drew mysteries that will be unveiled over the final two episodes this season, including how he went from Quantico to getting some sort of revenge to how he was listed as a John Doe, even though he was at one time a football player.
As for the fate of Simon, don’t worry: You’re going to get a chance to learn a little bit more about him soon. While it’s possible there will be a cliffhanger-of-sorts in the finale, we do get the sense that the show wants to tie up as many loose ends as possible before we get to that point.
