‘The Leftovers,’ ‘Mr. Robot,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘black-ish’ among Peabody Award winners

“The Leftovers” already may be the best show of 2015 in our mind, and we’re now pleased to say that the show has another honor to also add to the list: Peabody Award winner.

Today, the organization behind the prestigious media awards announced that the HBO drama, alongside “Mr.  Robot,” “Jessica Jones,” “Transparent,” “Master of None,” “Wolf Hall,” “Deutschland 83,” “UnREAL,” and “black-ish,” are set to be the latest recipients when it comes to Electronic Media. It’s a great honor, though we didn’t expect anything less from this organization, which has been known from our vantage point for making some rather smart decisions when it comes to its recipients over the years.

Now, of course, we have the downside with many of these shows: Some of them were limited series to begin with, and others are going to be off the air for a while. “Master of None” and “Jessica Jones” could be off the air this year entirely, while “The Leftovers” does not have a firm return date as of yet. At least “Mr. Robot” and “UnREAL” are returning this summer, and “black-ish” (which has been especially killing it this year, and may be the best network comedy on right now) is still in the process of airing its latest season.

Of course, we’re going to continue to track all things pertaining to awards over the coming weeks. After all, remember for a second here that Emmy season is not too far away, and we’ll be talking about many of these shows then.
