NBC’s ‘The Voice’ preview: Adam Wakefield, Alisan Porter, Emily Keener big winners on iTunes
Tonight is the first time on “The Voice” that all of the singers are in direct competition with each other, and that means above all else that the iTunes results matter more than they ever have. We get a real sense of where everyone stands, and also who could be going home. (Note: These rankings are as of 3:00 p.m. Eastern.)
The first thing that we have to say is that even though it’s still a small sample size, we would not crown Alisan Porter the winner of the season just yet. Adam Wakefield’s “Soulshine” is currently ahead of her “Stone Cold” right now at #7, as opposed to her #9. Both are likely to get the multiplier that will effectively ensure that they are safe. The exciting thing about this season is that while Porter may be a clear favorite, she’s not a runaway just yet a la Jordan Smith and there is some competition to be had.
From here, you have to go down to Emily Keener with “Lilac Wine” at #27, which is a nice placement for a woman who needed her coach’s help to stay alive. We think that she is safe, and the same goes for Nick Hagelin, Hannah Huston, Laith Al-Saadi, Owen Danoff, and Shalyah Fearing. All of them are within the top 50.
As for who’s in danger, two other members of Team Blake are struggling. Mary Sarah is barely in the top 100 with “So Small,” while Paxton Ingram is not with “Hands to Myself.” Maybe someone like Daniel Passino or Bryan Bautista could join them in danger, since they’re both relatively down on the charts.
