NBC’s ‘The Voice’ winner Jordan Smith returns, performs ‘Stand in the Light’

Voice -While tonight was the first results show for “The Voice,” it was also more than that: It was a homecoming for the reigning champ in Jordan Smith, who is already doing what he can to make an impact on the music world.

During the broadcast, Smith performed his new single entitled “Stand in the Light,” which is off of his new album entitled “Something Beautiful.” He is of course known for his incredible voice and range, so it made sense for him to pick a song that would allow him a chance to show this off. Typically on the show, you really want iTunes sales to go to the next round; here, this is really all about furthering his career, and becoming the first non-country winner of the show to have a lasting impact. (There is a low-quality version of the performance below, which is the only one available as of this writing.)

If nothing else, we’re extremely grateful to NBC and “The Voice” for at least giving Jordan a chance to come back quickly and perform some new music. This is an opportunity that really should be handed down to all reigning champions almost right away, but it does not always happen.

Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to see some other alumni a little bit later in the season, but for the time being nothing’s confirmed on that. The only thing left to do is to enjoy Jordan’s performance, and then wait to see what happens from here.
