NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results preview: Alisan Porter, Nick Hagelin, Adam Wakefield strong on iTunes
“The Voice” Live Playoffs started on NBC last night, and with that, we’re back to one of our favorite traditions of the entire season: Figuring out just who is apt to remain in the competition thanks to iTunes!
While as of this writing (which is around 12:30 p.m. Eastern time on Tuesday) there is nobody in the top 10, Alisan Porter is the closest with her cover of “Cry Baby” sitting firmly at #12. Given the edit so far this season, she is the artist the show would really like to see make it to the finals; viewers seem to be responding to that, and she’s one of the few 100% locks to move forward. We’re also surprisingly impressed by Nick Hagelin, who is at #25 with “Stay” despite entering this phase as a Coach Comeback artist. This could mean that Bryan Bautista at #38 with “Pillowtalk” may be reliant on Christina Aguilera to get him into the next round. That’s somewhat surprising to us, given that he was so excellent on the show.
Meanwhile over on Team Blake Shelton, Adam Wakefield is the closest to a lock with his “Seven Spanish Angels” at #30. Joe Maye, Mary Sarah, and Katie Basden are all bunched closely together, so we don’t think any other spot is necessarily set in stone.
To us, the biggest disappointment here is that Paxton Ingram, who has been for the most part excellent on the show and was very good last night, is not even in the top 100. This is what happens sometimes when you go first on the night! Blake’s a strategist, so we’re not sure he will move forward with someone who has weaker iTunes sales.
