‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 4: Talking renewal odds and more for Tom Mison – Nicole Beharie series
Tonight, Fox will be closing the door on “Sleepy Hollow” for the third season, and quite possibly also the series itself.
If you think back to the show’s first season two years ago, this is not something that looked like much of a possibility for a wide array of different reasons. During the first season, the show never posted lower than a 2.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic. If it was even averaging just over half of that right now in season 3, we figured that it would have at least a solid chance. However, the show is averaging just a 0.8 rating, it has been moved to a woeful spot on Friday night, and is on average down well over 40% from season 2.
We feel like we’ve spent so much time talking about the show’s ratings drops over time that we don’t need to waste any more going too in-depth, but we think that by and large, the reasoning here is fairly clear: Season 2 scared a ton of people away from the show, and after it wrapped up, the series could not get people to come back. While we’re not going to say that season 3 has been perfect, for the most part we have found it more interesting and entertaining than the one that came before.
In theory, it’s possible that the show gets renewed for a fourth season, but we’re not holding our breath right now. One potential strike against it earlier this week was Fox picking up two of its new shows in “Rosewood” and “Lucifer” for additional seasons, which means that there is a little less room on the schedule. The one thing that it could have going for it is the mere fact that “American Idol” is ending, and that is two hours (at least) every week that the network will need to fill.

So sick of networks that kill off their main, black woman character when she has a close relationship with her white co-star. They did it with Person of Interest, they just did it with Sleepy Hollow (oh I know,,,they say the stars wanted to leave). Probably the only reason Kerry Washington is still on Scandal is the creator of the show has the strings. The relationship between Abbie and Ichabod was holding the fans. The producers treated Ms. Behaire shabbily in Season 2, relegating her (the star) third place, behind Katia Winter. I have never seen a network FU a show that has so much promise. And Tom Mison (who I never heard of before this show) is a tremendous talent. I hope he leaves as well and finds something or a show that respects his talents.

I am so sick of reading comments like yours ohsnaponu. This is 2016 not 1966. For your information Ms Behaire wanted to leave the show prior to the end of the 1st season. Whether for fear of being type cast in that genre or role who knows but it was long before she was as you put it “shabbily” treated. Also this is Hollywood. The most liberal place on planet Earth. The place that wags its finger in the face of most of America when they feel that something is a miss or needs correction. Almost 80% of the show is African American. So please stop with that. Ms Behaire signed a 5yr contract for a series. I know that many series don’t even get picked up and the ones that do get picked up in their freshman year, a large percentage simply don’t make it. She hedged her bet that the series wouldn’t be a hit and was wrong. Once the series got renewed by the 3rd week in its freshman season panic probably set it that this was going to be a 5yr deal. I clearly remember back then there being rumors that she wanted off for whatever reason. Now we get to present day. Some are out there (as you are) hinting at innuendo that she was thrown off by saying “oh I know…they say the stars wanted to leave”. She wanted off the show. There was even talk last year when she was thrown back in 1781 that they would have her remain there as some sort of story line so that Ichabod would have to find a way to get her out on his own. Needless to say they brought her out and Katrina was the one who was killed off. There was no other option then for the writers/producers/FOX to end her character the way they did. It would have been disrespectful to try to recast the role of Abbie. That would have been upsetting to me.
I’m sure if the roles were reversed and it were Tom Mison leaving the show and Ichabod being killed off and Ms Behaire staying on you would feel the same way about the show. Yeah, right…

My hopes for a Season 4 is that Sleepy Hollow will go back to it’s roots relating to the 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse. I just never got into the abrupt switch from religion to Greek Mythology…. was a bit of stretch. Originally, the monsters were not just something ugly to kill off either; they toyed with their victim’s emotions and did things that made us shiver. I also missed having an emotional connection with the villain; we hated the things Abraham and Henry did, but we still felt sympathetic to their pain. Sleepy Hollow, please find some deeper more experienced writers this time around. We miss the old magic!

By “shiver” and “emotional connection” you mean “gina tingles”? Hehe, women and bad guys…

Thoughts like that are best kept to yourself rather than posted on the internet where everyone can judge you. FYI.
No. I was referring to how in the beginning Sleepy Hollow was a much darker show. The demons did things that played on our human fears; like pulling someone down to drown them, vines trying to strangle you, guilting people into committing suicide… or gross-out cringe worthy actions such as eyeballs exploding, a witch tearing a man’s heart out of his ribcage and the Horseman of Death making lanterns out of decapitated heads. Things that made it feel like evil was coming for us and the Witnesses were in genuine peril. Lately Sleepy Hollow has become a monster-catching show rather than one about the forces of Good vs. the forces of Evil.

Alright, alright… You didn’t have to go through all these details, I’m not that interested in that stuff; just a passerby over here. Though I am a gina tingles enthusiast/inducer. *pompously smokes pipe*

Me and my wife watch the show and have loved it. But of course when fox moved the show to Friday, what would did they think would happen, viewership dropped. Was that there plan? Put the show back in a good time spot, where it belongs. The fans deserve it, and the other fans will come back, even new ones. Fox give it one more shot. Put it in front or behind a popular show, on a good night, and people will come back to it. If fox does it right, it could be like the Cw’s cult following show supernatural. Also people are sick and tired of predictable shows such as rosewood, lucifer and shows that were good but have run its course like bones. And a handful of crap.

Who cares when it comes on. Just DVR whatever shows you like and watch them whenever you want sans commercials.

I liked the show. Clearly it’s a fantasy so whatever they came up with was always going to be unrealistic. Hopefully it will come back as it was always well done.

How are they going to renew the show when they just killed off Abbie? ?

I really like this show, in the end they still need two witnesses..so maybe it will be renewed.

The frontrunner is confident there will be a S4 and killed off a character (Joe Corbin) to make room for a new S4 main character, Ezra Mills.
Reality, the show was given their miracle chance at redemption and some creative missteps led to low ratings.
S2 did lead to the demise of the show, convoluted stories and the killing off of major characters dropped viewership from 10.5 million to an average of 2.6 million viewers.
S3, killing off a character that kept some existing viewers watching is probably not a good idea and indicates it’s time to put the show out of it’s misery.
The fans are loyal and the network really tried, you have to at least give credit to those who support the show.
