‘Rush Hour’ episode 2 preview: Where do Carter, Lee go from here?
While we know that not every TV critic across the vast landscape of the internet loved the pilot for “Rush Hour,” we rather enjoyed it. Sure, we had a feeling at times like some CBS stiff forced them to more or less recreate the bare-bones skeleton from the movie with a few twists, but there was a fun spirit to it and a chemistry that has us excited about where this particular story could go from here now that the writers likely have a little more freedom.
With that, we turn to the next new episode, which carries with it the title of “Two Days, or the Number of Hours Within That Time Frame” (pretty much a mouthful there). The preview below really doesn’t give you much of a sense of what to expect beyond some action sequences, but the attached synopsis is a tad more useful:
“After Gerald is arrested for wearing an expensive watch that was stolen in a robbery/homicide, Carter sneaks his cousin out of jail in order to use his street contacts to track down the killers.”
Here’s the real challenge for “Rush Hour”: There’s very little that the crew can do in terms of scale to match some of what the movies did, if for no other reason than that they had a pretty hefty budget. Therefore, for the show the real challenge here is getting creative. They have to come up with fun concepts and storylines that will capitalize on the cast’s charm, and find creative ways to have these fight scenes be memorable. Otherwise, they’ll all blend together rather quickly.
