ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 5, episode 15 review: What did Olivia learn on Susan Ross?
“Scandal” loves to weave its complicated web, and it did that on Thursday night’s new episode with a story that was, at its core, about the Presidential race.
Susan Ross is fantastic. We love the character, since she really is the ultimate political underdog and she’s come out of nowhere to be a serious contender for President. Also, in the process of tonight we saw the supposed end to her relationship with David Rosen. Also, a reminder that Liz North is a horrible person. David dumped her so that he could be with Susan exclusively, but Susan still was able to suss out precisely what was going on. We feel in part for David sent we get the sense that he never wanted something like this to happen. However, at the same exact time he could’ve stopped it right along and just opted to be with Susan. It was a difficult situation for him, and clearly, there are no winners here at all.
When it comes back to Susan, Olivia Pope also was clued in to some sort of big secret at the end of the episode, but we aren’t quite sure what it is other than that it involves the Vice-President. To be honest, though, we’re starting to get extremely tired of the Olivia story this season. We’re not really into the whole relationship angle with Jake, or the repeated Rowan drama that has been happening time and time again.
As of right now, we’re enjoying “Scandal” for the politics; maybe we’re in the minority on that, or maybe this is in part a function to it just being election season. Ultimately, it’s rather hard to say. Episode Grade: B.
