‘Scorpion’ season 2, episode 15 review: A Walter – Paige conundrum in ‘Da Bomb’
When are Walter and Paige going to get together on “Scorpion”? It’s been a while since we’ve seen any movement on their feelings for one another ever since they decided to just be friends and co-workers, but we saw a little bit of that spark we all miss in the last episode. Is tonight’s episode going to kick Walter and Paige into the next gear or will it be more of the same?
In a way, it’s almost frustrating how tonight’s episode didn’t get these two characters that much closer to being together, and as much as we enjoy this show, there is a certain sentiment that they are just living scared. The attraction is there, Walter clearly cares for both her and Ralph, and as evidenced tonight, he’s terrible dating everyone else. When you date Linda, a woman just hoping to find someone after watching “The Notebook,” and she ends up basically stuck inside a mass of gel to keep from dying in an explosion, you’re doing some things wrong.
Also, of course Linda didn’t want to go out with him again.
We get it that the show doesn’t want to rush into anything, and they’ve just paired off Happy and Toby and maybe feel like coupling everyone together is a mistake. With that being said, isn’t it also a mistake to keep dragging out a will-they-or-won’t-they when the answer is so obvious? There’s no real challenge to this relationship; you know that it is coming at some point, so why not get the ball rolling rather than taking the circuitous procedural route? Earlier this season, we praised the show for having the guts to have Walter and Paige confront their feelings so early in season 1; now, we’re still stuck in that position.
Other than our clearly-extensive complaint here, “Da Bomb” had some action-packed moments for Cabe, a lot of humor sprinkled in, and a few good scenes of Paige really challenging these people to get it together to save Linda from the bomb strapped to her test. If only the relationships were matching the level of excitement we’re getting from the rest of the show…
Episode grade: B.
