Tracy Morgan comedy pilot coming to FX with help from Jordan Peele

FX -Tracy Morgan was working on a project for FX Networks long before his near-fatal automobile accident back in 2014, but one of the great things about the people there is that they continued to stand by him while he recovered.

Now, the wait is over, at least as FX has announced that they have officially ordered a pilot featuring the former “30 Rock” star. He will star and executive-produce as a man trying to adjust to the modern world after 15 years behind bars, and the pilot will be written by John Carcieri of “Eastbound & Down” and Jordan Peele of “Key & Peele” fame. This is a pretty good group of guys to set up an idea, and while it is still not entirely clear if this will lead to a successful show, we certainly have some hope.

In a statement, FX Networks / FX Productions President of Original Programming Nick Grad had the following to say:

“What an unbeatable combination — Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele — two exceptional comics joining forces with a great team of writers and producers to create and produce this pilot for FX Networks … We’ve been committed to Tracy from the start and are thrilled that Jordan, John, Eric and Joel are joining him in developing this new project.”

We’re not sure if there is a better string of cable comedies out there than what is going on at FX and FXX at the moment. Let’s just list some of them off: “Louie,” “You’re the Worst,” “Man Seeking Woman,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” the upcoming “Baskets” starring Zach Galifianakis, and “Atlanta,” the Donald Glover comedy coming a little bit down the road. This is a network that definitely has it going on.
