‘Game of Thrones’ could be renewed for season 7, season 8 soon
While “Game of Thrones” season 6 is not officially premiering on HBO until April 24, the question as to whether or not it is getting renewed just happens to be more or less a foregone conclusion in our mind. Who in the world will want to get rid of something that is generating the sort of ratings that it is?
The question with this series is mostly one of when rather than if, and that is something that the show’s producers are trying to resolve already in every way that they can. According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, the network is in discussions at the moment to bring the show back for not just a seventh, but also an eighth season. If you’ve been following the news media as of late, then you’re aware that this is not much of a shock. HBO has wanted this to be an eight-season show for years, and for purposes related both to making a lot of money and also for creatively getting all they can out of the material from George R.R. Martin.
Speaking of people making money, there’s one challenge that still awaits: Getting the cast to sign on for an eighth season. Most of the long-standing regulars have been secured for seven for quite some time, and given the revenue this could prove itself to be extremely lucrative for all parties involved.
In the end, though, this is HBO, and this is a show that has lifted everyone’s career to new heights. It will all work out just fine.
