‘Sherlock: The Abominable Bride’: Martin Freeman on special’s different feel
Can you believe that in three mere days, we are actually going to get a chance to watch a new episode of “Sherlock“? It’s a little bit of a crazy thing to think about at this point, since we’ve been waiting for so long to see this episode come on the air. The fact that it is almost here is still something that is a little bit hard to comprehend.
Today, we have some more information all about just what it was like for Martin Freeman to return to the show after some time to work on some other things, only to come back to a product that was so different. As you likely know, “The Abominable Bride” is going to be Victorian-set, and features an alternate-universe version of Holmes and Watson solving a case that has been described in some circles as a “ghost story.”
Speaking to BANG! Showbiz (per the Mirror), Freeman makes it clear that doing this special was more than just a mere thrill for him:
“[As] soon as you see [Benedict Cumberbatch] in the gear and you see me in the gear, we definitely look like Holmes and Watson, as opposed to Sherlock and John. It was good fun, it was really good fun.”
The fun for Freeman and Cumberbatch will begin again at some point in 2016, as “Sherlock” is going to be filming the rest of its fourth season soon. This will bring the show back into the present, and will more than likely give us a few surprises in the process. Stay tuned for more news all about that!
