‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ preview: Phaedra Parks gets emotional over son’s big day

While there are so many moments on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” and other shows that feel completely put on for the sake of petty drama, there’s something about the real moments that completely get us still. These are the moments that we look forward to watching, and they show us so much about who these people are at home and even potentially when the cameras are not rolling.

This is why, if you’re a longtime viewer of the Atlanta show, it is hard to not get a little bit choked up watching the video below featuring Phaedra Parks and her son Ayden. It is his first day of kindergarten, and she reminisces about raising him. Her words are reason enough to pull the heartstrings, but this is amplified further by the video montage showing some moments of the child growing up. There are always concerns about putting your child on-camera, but one of the things that comes out of it is that you have this extensive library of what are incredibly high-production home movies.

In the end, it’s nice to see a softer, more tender moment for Phaedra given everything that she has gone through over the past couple of seasons on the show. We imagine that, given the nature of this show, she will continue to go through so much more before we reach the end of this season. We are still in the first half of it, and typically things do not start to hit their peak level of drama until a little bit closer to the end.
