‘Finding Carter’ season 3: Show boss on what Max story could be

The second season of “Finding Carter” came to a dramatic conclusion on Tuesday night with an ending that was hard to see coming: The death of Jared, and then not to long after that, the revelation that it was Max and not Lori who killed him. He was taken into custody in the closing minutes, and that is quite the cliffhanger ending when you consider that this is not a show confirmed to be returning for a third season.

Unfortunately, executive producer Emily Whitesell could not confirm to The Hollywood Reporter one way or another that the show is coming back. However, she did make it clear that if they do return, the story of Max’s future may not be just one large courtroom battle for all of season 3:

“I don’t personally think that the audience would be hugely interested in watching a giant legal battle with Max on TV. But we all care deeply about Max and what would happen to him. The beauty of this is, essentially, depending on how we want to go back and retell details of the story beyond what we’ve seen, the idea that he didn’t mean to do it. It was an accident and he was trying to protect someone. And as we know from this show, there are a lot of ways that a trial could go. So we have a lot of choices about how to deal with it from the emotional feelings that Max would have about the whole thing and legally as well.”

As for when we could hear about a third season, it’ll probably be in 2016. There’s no reason for MTV to announce a decision one way or another now.
