‘Doctor Who’ season 9 finale spoilers: First look at Peter Capaldi – ‘Hell Bent’ story

Are you prepare to say farewell to “Doctor Who” until Christmas? Well, next week the BBC is going to be bringing you a story in “Hell Bent” that will test the Doctor at least in a way that he has not been so far this season. We’re going back to Gallifrey, seeing the Time Lords, and facing more danger and long-lasting implications than ever before.

The synopsis below serves as what we think to be a worthy introduction:

“If you took everything from him, betrayed him, trapped him, and broke both his hearts…how far might the Doctor go?

“Returning to Gallifrey, the Doctor faces the Time Lords in a struggle that will take him to the end of time itself. Who is the Hybrid? And what is the Doctor’s confession?”

Granted, we feel like one of the larger questions here is what happens if the Doctor is in fact the Hybrid, and also if we are meant to make anything out of the fact that we had those Paul McGann – “half human” comments for so many years ago. There were so many questions raised during “Heaven Sent,” and there are so few answers. All we know with the utmost confidence is that the show has really pushed the bar high for the last episode of the season to deliver. Here’s to hoping that it can and set the stage really well for the Christmas Special.
