‘Sherlock’ season 4: Surprises in ‘The Abominable Bride’; plus, new photo!
The fourth season of “Sherlock” does not formally start for some time (they have not even started to film the first episode), but the BBC is giving a rather nice gift to us while we wait for what comes next: The upcoming “The Abominable Bride” special. This is a standalone event that will prepare you for season 4 while at the same time take you to another world in Victorian England. You’ll get a chance to see an alternate universe Holmes and Watson solving a new case, and hopefully when it airs on New Year’s Day it will be the right sort of cheer to start off 2016.
You’ve heard a few little details already about this story is in many ways a hodgepodge, and now, we’re hearing further from none other than executive producer Steven Moffat. Speaking in a new interview with the Radio Times, he did his part to explain further some of the elements that have been included to go along with some of the Easter eggs that are going to appeal to a certain handful of fans:
“It’s a new story, but if you know the original stories, you’ll see that it’s fashioned out of quite a few others. As ever with us, we’ve chosen several and there are loads of references. One of them you have to be able to speak Chinese to get.”
We cannot help but think that the Chinese part of the equation is a way to further appeal to some of the show’s many fans in China, where it is seen by millions of people.
