‘Supernatural’ season 11 spoilers: See Jensen Ackles’ tease up the mysterious Darkness
If “Supernatural” really wanted to bring forward a mysterious Big Band for the upcoming 11th season, it feels like they’ve done that with the Darkness. We’ve heard time and time again that this is a presence completely different than anything that the show has ever done before. There’s no real road map just yet for how to present something of this variety, but it is going to be very interesting to learn over the course of the season. It predates the Bible or any other written text, and its power could be far-reaching.
If anyone would know a thing or two more about the Darkness, though, and would be willing to share it, it’s Jensen Ackles! That is why we are pleased to reveal his recent comments per Entertainment Weekly on the subject:
“As of right now we have it built as one specific entity, obviously that would be a character that we’re introducing. But whatever the reach of that character, what that character can do, we’re not quite sure of … We don’t know the scope of her powers … It’s not really a monster. It’s more of a primal force that we know nothing about. There’s no lore; there’s no guidebook; there’s no instruction manual on how to deal with this.”
The biggest reveal in here is more confirmation that the character representing the Darkness will be female, which in turn raises the question of whether or not it is the mysterious character to be played by Emily Swallow? She’s capable enough to handle Big Bad territory if the show decides to go there with her.
Rather than spend too much time speculating on the subject, though, let’s just go ahead and say this: The new season of “Supernatural” will premiere on The CW come Wednesday, October 7, and we will have further news as it starts to come out.
