2015 MTV VMAs: Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj, Bruno Mars and more to perform
Tomorrow night, MTV has a chance to air what could end up being their most outrageous Video Music Awards in some time. By choosing Miley Cyrus to be the host of the show, they basically made it clear within a split second that they are not afraid of controversy.
So will there be potentially even more controversy that comes from the acts performing Sunday? Well, it’s possible. Nicki Minaj is opening the show, and to us one of the greatest moments of intrigue comes here out of her reaction to not getting some of the larger nominations for the show. Could she say something about this on the network itself? You do have to wonder.
As for some other notable performers, think along the likes of Demi Lovato, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, Tori Kelly, Pharrell, Bruno Mars, A$AP Rocky, and Twenty One Pilots. It’s a pretty good roster, though we do wish that there were a few more music legends into the mix. Yes, we know that this is not the Grammys, but a little bit of variety never hurt anyone, did it?
Kanye West is also set to receive the Vanguard Award on the evening, and it makes some sense given that you really cannot have a VMAs at this point without there being at least some sort of mention of Kanye, who has had several of the biggest moments there over the years. (Not all of them do have anything when it comes to Taylor Swift.)
We’re going to have more coverage of the VMAs all weekend all weekend long, so be sure to head over here for some further coverage of them! Also, you can sign up here to get some other news related to all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: MTV.)
