‘Sherlock’ season 4: Steven Moffat on Moriarty’s fate and more
As of right now, we know that many “Sherlock” fans are still very much rejoicing, and for good reason! The show just unveiled a preview of sorts at San Diego Comic-Con, and that is a tremendous reason to be excited. The fan base for this show is all sorts of extreme, and the demand to learn what happens next in season 4 (which could air in late 2016, at least in the UK) is higher than ever.
Unfortunately, you’re going to have to wait for a while to start to uncover what could happen in these episodes. All executive producer Steven Moffat will do at the moment to hype these up is use one simple word to describe them: “Terrific.” The scripts have not been fully written just yet, but the indication is clear that all parties involved love what they are constructing for the show.
So is Moriarty coming back? Steven Moffat proclaimed to TVLine that the character is “definitely dead,” but whether or not you want to take him at his word there is entirely up to you. Stranger things have certainly happened than this character suddenly coming back to life. It may be better to just leave it at that.
Hopefully, there will be some more actual news when it comes to season 4 of the show at some point in 2016, but we’re not holding our breath for any news to come before that other than the special, which is going to air on PBS, on BBC, and in select theaters around the world. We envision Christmas being the airdate in Britain, and hopefully it will be somewhat close to that in other locations, as well.
