‘Hannibal’ season 4: Bryan Fuller says there is interest from other parties
Is there a bright future ahead for “Hannibal” on another network after the show’s cancellation? We certainly hope so, but at the moment we are also in a position where nothing is necessarily confirmed. It may be weeks or even months before it is, since there’s not a whole lot of motivation for a new suitor to finalize anything until they see the ratings for season 3.
The great news now is that there are at least some interested parties, whether they be Amazon (or are acting almost on the surface like they are keeping it cool) or someone else. This comes straight from the mouth of showrunner Bryan Fuller, who explained to The Hollywood Reporter that Netflix is ultimately not in the picture at the moment because of the exclusive streaming deal they have elsewhere:
“There has been interest from a few different parties. It’s all about gauging how much of an interest and there’s certain avenues that I know we wouldn’t be able to do, for instance Netflix because our deal with Amazon precludes a Netflix component. So it’s not a good deal for them to make even though they’ve been so kind in terms of their enthusiasm for the show. The contract limits what they could do with it. The studio is talking with other venues to see how serious their interest is.”
Fuller also says that he would be able to continue with the show for a fourth season even if his Starz series “American Gods” takes up a ton of his time, so there’s no need to worry about that. Our advice if you want to see the show return remains the same: Watch live, and also tell all of your friends to do the same!
