‘Sherlock’ season 4, ‘Doctor Who’ season 9 showrunner Steven Moffat receives OBE honor

There are few honors out there in Great Britain that carry the same sort of prestige as the OBE. This is a title that you can attach to your name, and it shows that all of the time and effort you have put into something is at the end of the day worth it. Not everyone is going to openly advertise that they are the recipient, mostly out of humility more than anything else. Still, we are hard-pressed to believe that this is something that is not appreciated by anyone.

One person who seems in particular very happy with the award is none other than “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock” executive producer Steven Moffat, who recently told the BBC the following when he first learned that his work in writing led to him being awarded something so prestigious:

“I was thrilled … I think the lovely thing about it is that a writer gets [awarded] at all … I think it gives hope and comfort to the shy kid getting in the back of the class … It is great for writing.”

Moffat also said that he never envisioned himself receiving such an honor, but it is the best sort of welcome surprise. to find out that it is coming in his direction.

Moffat has remained rather busy yet again this year. Not only has he worked hard to ensure that the ninth season of “Doctor Who” gets filmed to completion, but there has also been a special episode of “Sherlock” filmed, presumably for later this year.

What is interesting is that this honor for Moffat comes mere days after we heard about “Sherlock” star Benedict Cumberbatch getting an honor of his own from the crown. Head over to the link here to receive some other news on that!
