‘Dancing with the Stars’ 20: Is Derek Hough open to returning next season?

Nastia -At this point in the run of “Dancing with the Stars,” the majority of the longtime pros have officially left the series. Tony Dovolani is the longest-tenured pro dancer, but it at times feels like he hasn’t been around as much thanks to some earlier exits.

At this point, most of the familiar faces include the likes of Derek Hough, Mark Ballas, and Peta Murgatroyd, who have all been around the show for at least a reasonable amount of time. We have come to know them and root for them at times, and given the recent renewal of the show for season 21, we know that there’s a chance that they will all return. But will they? That is still to be seen, and it could be later this summer before we even know. A lot of it ultimately has to do with the chemistry that producers think they will have with a given star.

While Derek is not confirming in his new TV Guide blog that he will be back for another season, he did at least make it clear that he could feasibly be, given that he does have two seasons left on his contract. He was originally not going to be a part of season 20, but changed his mind due to it being the show’s anniversary and getting a chance to dance with Nastia Liukin, who was also spending time in New York.

As for whether or not Derek regrets going through all of this because of the injury he suffered this season, he doesn’t seem to by any means.

If you missed it, there was some controversy caused by some of Val Chmerkovskiy’s comments on the results show. Head over here to read some more news about that. Also, you can sign up now to get some other TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
