‘Survivor: Worlds Apart’ rankings: Will Sims II makes his move; Tyler Fredrickson leads

Will -If you look at the current landscape on “Survivor: Worlds Apart,” it would seem like the logical trajectory would be for Joe, Jenn, and Shirin to be the next three boots. However, there’s something about this series that suggests to us that this may not be the case. There is still flexibility for some big moves and surprises to occur, and much of the reason for that is that there are many good players.

There are some movers-and-shakers on our list this week. Mike Holloway and Will Sims II each find themselves higher on the list, and the same goes for Rodney Lavoie Jr. after keeping his secret alliance together a while longer.

10. Joe Anglim – This is not a great time to be Joe. You lose a challenge, and you get voted out. We’re not entirely sure this is the right move given that we’re not all that sure still that Joe wins the game in the end, at least if he does nothing other than win challenges. Colby and Ozzy both are proof that physical threats do not always win.

9. Jenn Brown – Why keep Jenn around? She doesn’t seem to even want to be there anymore, and she’s shown enough strategic clout to not be jury goat material. Better to get rid of her before she gets her zeal for the game back.

8. Dan Foley – We rank Dan so low on this list mostly because there is no chance he wins this game in our mind, and he’s also so loathed by some people out there that they may not want him to get final 3 prize money.

7. Mike Holloway – We worry about Mike. Even with an immunity idol, he’s still the biggest threat in the game other than Joe, and he has no idea that Rodney has a new alliance with Will, Tyler, and Carolyn that could spell his doom.

6. Shirin Oskooi – Despite how many times Shirin was pegged as “annoying” early in the game, we really find ourselves rooting for her now. She not only loves the game, but there would be such sweet karmic justice in her booting Dan after he was so terrible to her on this past episode. We also think she has some game left to be played.

5. Rodney Lavoie Jr. – It’s crazy that Rodney is ranked so high here, but the truth here is that he’s actually doing a good job! He’s kept his new alliance a secret, and while we’re not sure that he can articulate his way to a win, he may be able to if he gets to the end with someone like a Dan, a Will, or a Sierra … maybe.

4. Sierra Dawn Thomas – We’d still put Sierra over Rodney slightly, mostly because her odds of making it to the end are higher even without an alliance. Unfortunately for her, we haven’t seen anything that she has done so far that justifies getting a million-dollar check.

3. Will Sims II – Will’s a great personality on the season, and he may actually be a slightly-underrated strategist, as well. He jumped from being fourth in the No Collar alliance to at least slightly better in a new four-person pact. Also, he’s so likable that there are situations where we see him winning if there is a bitter jury.

2. Carolyn Rivera – Carolyn’s a very good player, and she’s also still in possession of an idol. If there is something we worry about with Carolyn, it’s Shirin. Is she going to put her differences with her aside if she finds a way to use her in the game? This is her blind spot.

1. Tyler Fredrickson – This is why we put Tyler at the top of the list for now. He’s got a number of good alliances, and he has such a rational, calm way of playing where he never makes anyone angry. He allowed Mike to find the immunity idol in handing over the clue, and while Tyler may not have an idol, he has knowledge. In some ways that is nearly as powerful.
