‘The Last Ship’ season 2: Watch lengthy new promo featuring Eric Dane, cast

Last Ship -We just learned yesterday that the second season of “The Last Ship” is premiering on TNT come Sunday, June 21, and the network is now wasting zero time at all taking the next step, and teasing to us what is coming in an extended promo video.

This promo is almost in two separate parts. The first segment of this is more stylistic, almost like the Michael Bay-produced show is trying to make a visual statement about the sense of desolation and loneliness in this world. This is fairly effective when it comes to showing that, and the flag in the ocean almost represents the downfall of the country that Chandler (Eric Dane) and his crew once served so faithfully.

The second part of this is more of an action-packed teaser featuring the cast, as they try to make the next step forward in survival. They are trying to find families and loved ones to take with them, and that search is going to be no easy task.

As a whole, the larger question for “The Last Ship” is a similar one to what “The Walking Dead” faces almost year after year at this point: How do you continue to make this show strong when dealing at the same time with redundancy? There are only so many times that a post-apocalyptic world can shock you, and you don’t want to desensitize viewers to what is going on within this world. That is why for season 2, a large focus should be more on the characters than the explosions.
