‘Big Brother Canada 3’ interview: Risha Denner on Canada’s eviction, other players, planned speech

Risha -Risha Denner basically had a tough time from the beginning on “Big Brother Canada 3.” She was nominated almost instantly by the rest of the house, and then failed to win the Power of Veto over Sindy in her one attempt to save herself. Following this, she was voted out in what was the first substantial twist of the season, which would eliminate someone based on Canada’s vote solely. She had a greater percentage of the vote than Pilar (despite it being very close), and was sent packing as a result.

Obviously, we should put a note in here that this is very different than the majority of the other pre-jury “Big Brother Canada” interviews that we’ve done over the years on CarterMatt. Since Risha is still in full sequester due to the twist, we could not ask her anything that could potentially ruin the integrity of the game and were limited to a certain number of questions. Keep that in mind as you read these.

CarterMatt – What have your emotions been like ever since being evicted?

Risha Denner – Being up on the block, I knew I was going home so I had made peace with it. Then to find out that Canada had a vote gave me a little hope, and then I still got evicted. That was kind of disappointing, but then I got out of the house, and after finding out from Arisa that there had been a Save Risha campaign, that was so touching and I felt so grateful and so blessed that so many people cared and wanted to see me stay in the house. And to have a chance to go back, so I’m definitely back on the upswing and hopeful and keeping my fingers and toes crossed that I can get back in there and play the game again.

What were you going to say to the other players in your speech before Arisa announced the twist?

I was going to thank ‘Big Brother Canada’ for casting me as a houseguest; it’s a great honor, and few people have that opportunity. I was going to thank my houseguests for sharing that experience, and getting to meet them and know them, and especially my boys Zach and Graig. I really bonded and connected with them. I miss throwing the ball around in the backyard, and cooking in the kitchen. Those were some really special moments for me in the house and actually made it feel real and it was an experience that I was never going to forget.

Oh, and my sister! I wanted to say hi to my sister and my niece in Vancouver.

How badly do you want to be back in the house?

Honestly, I’ve cut my hair! (Laughs.) Joking.

I really want to go back in the house! I feel like it started off so fast, and I had to completely adjust my strategy and change my game and go into survival mode. I think had we started off the way that ‘Big Brother’ normally starts, with everyone drinking champagne and getting to know each other and talking on the first night, I think people would have got to know me and hopefully would not have seen me as such a threat. Hopefully I would not have been put on the block the first week.
