‘Empire’ season 2: Premiere date speculation, more for Taraji P. Henson, cast

Tonight, “Empire” ended its run on Fox with what was definitely an eventful two hours of television. Within this span of time, we saw plenty of arguments, questions of sales, and then fights, fights, and more fights! Empire Entertainment went public, and that changes the entire game moving forward.

One other question that you have to wonder is what does this means for the future of the series? We imagine the entire Lyon clan being impacted by this not-so-small business move, because while they may not have control anymore, they are still a family. There has to be something to be said for that … right?

The real question on everyone’s mind right now is when will the waiting game to see more of Taraji P. Henson and the rest of the cast will be over? When is the new season of “Empire” returning to Fox?

At the moment, all we know is that the network will have another season airing at some point in the 2015-16 season. There could be pressure to put it on in the fall since it was such a ratings monster (beating out “The Big Bang Theory” is no easy feat!), but personally we hope that they wait until early 2016.  We’re not sadistic, but if they wait it can air in consecutive weeks without any breaks and this is what ultimately helped the show build so much momentum during this first season. People knew when it was on and it was on every week at the same bat time and same bat channel.

As for the episode order, executive producers Danny Strong and Lee Daniels have each confirmed that 22 episodes is not the goal, and Daniels is going to fight to once again make the show last for only 12 episodes. We’re great with this if it happens: After all, it ensures that you have a story that is tightly-constructed, and doesn’t include any filler episodes or clips specials that longer seasons typically have.
