‘The Blacklist’ season 2 spoilers: Megan Boone on state of things between Liz, Tom Keen

Are Liz and Tom Keen actually closer to being intertwined again on “The Blacklist”? We wouldn’t quite say that going into Thursday night’s new episode. However, what we will say is that the pair are probably in a more interesting place than they have been in the past. For example, Tom actually paid her a phone call before departing last week, seemingly not acting too off-the-rails about the fact that she had him locked up for months at the harbor.

Going in Thursday night’s new episode, the biggest thing to remember here is that Liz is going to be testifying over what happened to the Harbormaster, and it is interestingly her ex who could be the one person to save her. This is why Reddington will be on the hunt for someone who can help in the search for the long-mysterious character.

In trying to describe the current state of things between Liz and Tom, Megan Boone was very clear to TV Guide that this is a very complicated dynamic, and one that cannot be easily

“I think that there are very intense feelings there that border on love and hatred. What I have been quoted as saying in the past is that there’s no longer a clean, sensible, pure love between them. It has become a relationship that has become toxic in my mind. Whenever someone in a relationship changes, the dynamic between the two people change. So the question really is now, ‘Does Tom seek redemption? Or does Liz go so far to the dark side that they can now become collaborators in some way?’ If their relationship is to continue, they’re in that paradox now.”

The one thing that we do know here is rather simple, and that is that Tom is not going away at any point in the near future.
