‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 alum Lauren German lands new starring role
Great news for all of those who miss Lauren German on TV: You may have a chance to see her in a pretty big capacity moving forward.
According to a new report from Deadline, the “Chicago Fire” alum known for Leslie Shay has signed up to co-star in Fox’s “Lucifer” pilot, playing Chloe Dancer, a woman who works at the Los Angeles Police Department. How does the infamous demon in the title show up? As it turns out, Lucifer (Tom Ellis, “Rush”) has chosen to leave Hell behind, and in the process, wants to work with the department to track down criminals. In the process, and while working alongside Chloe, he may realize that all humans are completely despicable.
The good news about this show is that it has origins in the DC Comics universe; otherwise, we’d be extremely concerned about it coming across as corny, and yet another case of some bizarre character working with a police department to solve crimes. We’ve all seen this sort of thing play out more times than we can really count now.
There is still no guarantee that we are going to see “Lucifer” on board the network in the 2015-16 TV season. The real struggle here is going to be ensuring that there is room for it on the schedule (Fox has less programming hours), and ensuring that the script is of high quality. Many DC adaptations have worked on the small screen, but the majority of them air on The CW. There are much different expectations there.
